Introducing Phase 3

Phase 3 of CBT's Communities Adapting to Climate Change Initiative launched in summer 2011. Its goal is to support interested communities in the Canadian Columbia Basin to increase their resiliency to potential climate change impacts.  Phase 3 is designed to be lighter and more flexible than previous phases, allowing communities to address their adaptation planning needs in smaller, "bite-sized" chunks.

Local governments choosing to formally participate in the initiative can:

  • access a diverse range of adaptation planning expertise through the Initiative's Technical Support Team
  • apply for a modest amount of funding towards their adaptation planning efforts
  • receive support and guidance on adaptation efforts from the CACCI staff team
  • participate in the CACCI Learning Network (targeted activities that support knowledge sharing and capacity-building on climate adaptation in the Basin)

CACCI offers the following free climate adaptation resources to all Basin communities:

Working with Phase 1 & 2 communities on implementation actions

The CACCI Team will be following progress on implementation actions by Phase 1 & 2 communities with a view to identifying common implementation needs and developing additional projects to support those needs, as well as harvesting key learnings so that they can be shared with other Basin communities via the Learning Network and development of a good practices guide.

Getting started

Communities interested in initiating adaptation planning are encouraged to get started in fall 2011 and no later than spring 2012, as Phase 3 will be winding up in March 2013.  For more information on how to get started contact Initiative Coordinator Kate Mahoney, adaptation@cbt.org.
